About Master Royler Gracie

Master Royler Gracie is the fifth son of Grandmaster Helio Gracie and is respected as one of the best teachers in the Gracie family by his father.

Training Gracie Jiu Jitsu with his brothers and cousins from an extremely early age, he bore an uncanny resemblance to his father. As the smallest of his brothers, Roylers light frame, weight and size, gave him no choice but to develop a strategy reminiscent of his father and a remarkable technical proficiency which allowed him to persevere against much larger opponents.

As one of the few Jiu Jitsu teachers in the world with a professor's diploma directly from Grandmaster Helio Gracie, Royler served as the head professor at the Academia Gracie in Reo de Janeiro for decades, and became renowned amoungst thousands of students for his work ethic, glowing personality, and uplifting positivity. Whether teaching young children, older business executives, or students with physical disabilities, Royler was known for making each student's personal development his personal mission.

Royler later emigrated to the United States in the early 1990s to help establish the Gracie Academy in Los Angeles, along with brothers Rorion, Rickson, and Royce. As one of the most successful competitors in Jiu Jitsu history, Royler currently uses this experience to serve as a coach and has recently relocated to San Diego, California to focus his efforts on teaching in the United states.

Royler has a lifetime of experience in no holds barred challenge matches, mixed martial arts competitions, submission wrestling, and is a four time World Jiu Jitsu Champion.

He is married to Vera Lucia Ribeiro Gracie, and has four daughters: Rayna, Rayssa, Rhauani and Rarine.
